What age do roosters start to crow? My chicken is 3 months old, looks like a hen but has been "crowing".Help!
Roosters and neighbours don't go together well (and its against council regulations to have them) so i need to do something about finding a new home for "Chicky Babe" if she is actually a he! Does anyone know the average age for a young chook (Aussie word for chicken) to start crowing if its a rooster? Also, when do the physical/behavioural characteristics kick in? Thanks chook lovers!

- wesson will solve that problem.
- occasionally hens crow.. but, its probably a rooster. i think 3 monthes is old enough for them to crow if i remember when i had chicks correctly.
- Roosters mature sexually earlier than the hens, which means they start crowing sooner than the hens lay, which means 3 months is about right. :) There is a tiny chance it's a hen, because sometimes hens do crow. (Not normally) It's most likely a rooster. Find him a nice home somewhere where the owners and neighbors don't mind crowing. :D
